"I am indebted to my father for living,
but to my teacher for living well."

~Alexander the Great~

Just another reason why I love my dream of becoming a teacher. :-) Love you all!

Love,
Steph

That is a great quote. So, I think you should tell me who the first teacher was that inspired you to teach and what grade it was. What kind of teaching do you want to do? What grade? Do you have a special school in mind? Are you currently working hard at that goal? How? I'm very interested in your dream. After all, knowlege is the gift that keeps on giving.

Hey Sandy! Thank you, I think it's so sweet of you to ask me about my dream! Makes me feel excited and warm inside... heehee

ok well oh my gosh pretty much ALL teachers have inspired me to become one myself! So I guess the first to have inspired me was my FIRST teacher, Ms. Sweeny, kindergarten. Very patient, very warm. Every elementary teacher I had was amazing. Mrs. Young, Mrs. Russel, Mrs. Phelps, Mrs. Houtz sheesh. Loved them. Then there were more teachers here and there that just kept confirming that this was the profession I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life. And I can't wait!

For awhile I was having a hard time deciding which subject I wanted to teach, afterall there are just SO many options! But I've narrowed it down to either 3-5 grade, or teaching history in Middle school.

For the past two years I've had my eye on Western Oregon University. It actually used to literally be a school for teachers! They have a terrific program, and many connections with all the schools in Oregon. You're pretty much garunteed a seat in the teacher's lounge if you make it there. (Now let's just hope I MAKE it there! jeez...)

Right now I'm taking courses at a community college here in Illinois. It's a pretty good school, I'm learning TONZ, but my goal right now is to just get my Associate's Degree. That will take care of all my general classes, and by that time I can transfer to WOU and hopefully by admitted directly into the Education Program. This Summer, I'll be visiting the school in Monmouth to see a faculty advisor to make sure I'm on the right track, and hopefully also take a required test that you need to pass before you can apply for the program. sigh... sheesh I did NOT think I was going to type this much... SORRY! But again, THANKS for asking. It can be fun to talk about. Like... talking about snow cones. Everyone loves to talk about those! :-) haha
